Citi Not Changing

It appears that Citi Field will look exactly the same next season. Adam Rubin of the Daily News did a story on the subject today. He spoke to both Jerry and Omar and both say it will not change. Jerry was quoted as saying "We're going to try to build a team with speed and defense and pitching.I think that fits that style."
Maybe it is just me, but I like the long ball. However, I guess if we know what we need as far as players go, then we can build a team that will play well in Citi. However, what pitching is out there or speed guys this winter that the Mets can get? The other question is about Reyes, will he be mentally ready to play next year or will he be cautious because of the hamstring. I think Beltran will be a fine fit and I think Frenchy understands the field and how to play there.
This will be a very interesting off season.

I'm perfectly fine w/ that strategy.
I grew up in the 70's & 80's, & the home run worship of the last 10-15 years never appealed to me. With testing, the game will click back some to what it used to be. Guys need to get on base & use their heads as opposed to swing for the fences or strike out trying.
As for pitching, there are teams that do a fine job drafting & building from within, & the Mets will need to find a way to emulate the Red Sox, Angels & Twins in that way.
If the Madoff thing has indeed left them strapped for cash, there goes the Wilpons' wooby...throwing lots of $ around & hoping it works.
I don't see any quick fixes, unless a shrewd trade is pulled off, & this team doesn't look to have the front office talent to do that.
